FTP with Windows 2000
This is a tutorial on how to use FTP to connect to a Web site using Windows 2000. It will guide you through making a connection to your Web site.
FTP Notes:
- You will require a username and password, supplied by your Web site host.
- You will need a domain name (www.mysite.com), or IP address (123.456.123.456) to connect.
Steps for Making an FTP Connection
| 1 | Double-click the My Network Places icon. | |

| 2 | Double-click the Add Network Place icon. | |

The Add Network Place Wizard will open. In the Type the location of the Network Place: box enter the location of your FTP site. (For example: ftp://www.mydomain.com) Click the Next button. |

| 4 | Uncheck the Log on Anonymously box. | ![]() |

In the User name: box enter your user name. Click the Next button. |

In the Enter a name for this Network Place: box enter a name for your FTP connection. It can be anything you like. Click the Finish button. |

When the Login As box appears enter the password you were given in the Password box. If you wish you may check the Save Password box to make it easier to connect to your Web site in the future. (Note: Depending on your internet connection it may take a minute for the Login As box to appear.) Click the Login button. |

| 8 | You now have an icon in the My Network Places area that you can use to access your Web site files. |
