Description

Robust and secure databases are a necessity in order to feed information and the related decision making processes. In the part-time evening Database Administration Diploma, students will learn to analyze data models, construct databases utilizing a variety of relational tools, and administer them in order to find a balance between efficiently extracting data while providing a long-term scalable database infrastructure solution.

Students will then be introduced to Linux shell commands and common utilities. The file hierarchy, process and process manipulation, user permissions and security, and text manipulation will also be studied.

Database Technologies
DIT 15547 Database Technologies Level 1: Introduction to Databases with MS Access
This course introduces the student to Microsoft Access. The course discusses what a database is and the components that are used within a database such as tables, queries, and data.
DIT 15548 Database Technologies Level 2: Multi-Table Access Databases: Advanced Queries,Forms and Reports

This course demonstrate how to enhance database design, create more advanced tables and use forms and reports.

Classes for Information Technology are at Main Campus, 480 Ellice Avenue on the 2nd floor of Lockhart Hall (rooms 2L13A & 2L13B) and the 3rd floor of Manitoba Hall (room 3M58). Proceed to room 2L13 in Lockhart Hall to find out which room your class will be in.

Registration Office Hours:

  • Monday through Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Offices closed on Saturday of long weekends.
