For web site graphics the best setting to use is pixels since that is the standard unit for that medium. For print work, picas or inches are recommended.
- Type
- This unit defines the type size and is displayed in the Tool Options bar when using a Type tool as well as in the Character and Paragraph panels. The usual setting is points.
Column Size

- Width
- This refers to the width of a column.
- Gutter
- The gutter is the width of the space between columns.
