Macromedia Flash : Using the Flash Timeline

If you've used Flash 4, you'll notice that the way that frames are displayed are different in Flash 5. Find out the differences and how you can change their appearance in Flash 5 using Macromedia's Timeline tutorial . There are program Preferences you can set to draw frames as they appeared in Flash 4. Even if you've never used a previous version of Flash, you might decide the Flash 4 method of drawing blank keyframes is the way to go. Methods of frame selections can also be set in Preferences to emulate Flash 4. Plus there is loads of information on selecting and moving frame content that you might find helpful once we get further into placing content in movies.

Hillman Curtis is a world-renowned Flash designer and founder of a New York City design firm of the same name. He was formerly creative director at Macromedia and has authored the book "Flash Web Design". His work is truly amazing and inspirational. The hillmancurtis web site is well worth exploring fully but particularly the web motion section which has four pages of awe-inspiring Flash ads and promotional movies. Highly recommended.
The Chopping Block, Inc. : Oranges and Graphic Design

The Flash site of The Chopping Block is a little cheesy but lots of fun. There are mouseovers hidden all over the site that reveal some creative animations. They pack a lot of punch into one small interface.
Deschenes-Regnier : I-of-the-Storm

For inspiration from a local design firm, the Deschenes-Regnier site is incredible. It's a wonderful example of using Flash to support their corporate message and is extremely functional too. If you can, check out the "full-blown hurricane" version. The mouseover effects during the download will keep you entranced.
