Work Environment
Overview
The first thing that you see when you first open up Dreamweaver is a bunch of windows and palettes that may or may not make any sense at this point. We will go over all the open windows and palettes as well as a few hidden ones that you might find useful later on.
Here is a summary of some of the topics in this lecture:
- Document Window and Document Toolbar:
- The Document Window is what you will use the most in Dreamweaver. It is the window that shows the document that you are working on, as well as important information about the document, and useful features to speed your Web site creation. The Document Toolbar contains options that relate directly to the Document Window.
- Property Inspector
- This is another very important window in Dreamweaver. It will probably be the second most important window that you will use. It displays various information about whatever text or object is selected in the document window.
- The Insert Bar
- This toolbar allows you to insert different types of objects in Dreamweaver. There are different categories of objects as well that can inserted into a document.
- Files Panel
- This panel is very useful for keeping track of all the files involved in your Web site, locally or remotely. It also can be used to show a graphical representation of the site. (site map)
- More Palettes
- In this topic, we will discuss other palettes that are not as often used, but may still aid in your Web site creation at one point or another.
